NEC UNIVERGE UM8700 Mobile App Privacy Policy Overview
Mobile Privacy Statement

Last Updated: April 1, 2018

This Privacy Policy explains how information about you is collected, used and disclosed by NEC Corporation of America. (“NEC”). This Privacy Policy applies to information collected when you use NEC’s UNIVERGE UM8700 mobile application and services (collectively, the “Service”).

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS PRIVACY POLICY DOES NOT ADDRESS HOW THE INDIVIDUALS OR ENTITIES FROM WHOM YOU MAY RECEIVE OUR SERVICE (WHICH MAY INCLUDE YOUR EMPLOYER, YOUR EMPLOYER’S IT DEPARTMENT OR OTHERS) COLLECT, USE AND DISCLOSE INFORMATION ABOUT YOU. FOR INFORMATION AS TO HOW EACH SUCH PARTY (“SERVICE PROVIDER”) COLLECTS, USES AND DISCLOSES INFORMATION ABOUT YOU, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR APPLICABLE SERVICE PROVIDER.

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make changes, we will notify you by revising the date at the top of the policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy whenever you access the Service to stay informed about our information practices and the ways you can help protect your privacy.

COLLECTION OF INFORMATION

NEC DOES NOT COLLECT INFORMATION ABOUT YOU. HOWEVER, THE SERVICE IS CAPABLE OF COLLECTING INFORMATION ABOUT YOU (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE INFORMATION BELOW).

AGAIN, NEC ENCOURAGES YOU TO CONTACT YOUR APPLICABLE SERVICE PROVIDER IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE INFORMATION ABOUT YOU THAT IS COLLECTED, USED AND DISCLOSED BY YOUR APPLICABLE SERVICE PROVIDER IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Information You Provide
The Service may collect information you provide directly via the Service. For example, the Service may collect information when you initially logon onto the Service, participate in any interactive features of the Service, request customer support or otherwise communicate with the Service or your applicable Service Provider. The types of information that may be collected include the following identity attributes:

  • Mailbox ID
  • Security Code
  • Phone Number

Also, the Service provides the ability to record voice messages. Messages are delivered to server software that runs at your premise and is under the control of your applicable Service Provider.

Information Automatically Collected When the Service is Used
When you access or use the Service, the Service automatically collects information, including:

Log Information
Your applicable Service Provider may log information about your use of the Service.

Location Information
Your applicable Service Provider may collect information about the location of your device each time you access or use the Service or otherwise consent to the collection of this information. For instance, the following location attributes are provided by you if you choose to enable location specific features:

  • Geo-Location - Latitude, Longitude, Accuracy
  • Wi-Fi-Location - SSID of Wi-Fi network

Location attributes provided by you or collected by the Service are stored only on the device. Upon logging out of the Service, the Service is programmed to delete all location attributes. To configure a “location” you must select one of the available system location names from a list and assign Geo- or Wi-Fi- Location attributes to that location name. The Service is programmed so as to not share your configured Geo- or Wi-Fi - Location attributes with other applications or the application server. Each location name has a key assigned to it. You neither see this key nor does it identify you. When the Service reports a location change to the Service server, only the location key is transmitted to the server and not the Geo or Wi-Fi specific attributes. The server is installed at your applicable Service Provider premises, and it is under the control of the IT department of your applicable Service Provider, not of NEC. Please know that, while reasonable efforts are made to ensure that the Server programming functions properly, in rare cases the Server programming may malfunction.

Information Collected by Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies
Your applicable Service Provider may use various technologies to collect information, and this may include sending cookies to your mobile device. Cookies are small data files stored in device memory that help to improve the Service and your experience.

Unless you opt-out, this application uses Google Analytics to track how you use the application. This information is transmitted to Google and used to compile statistical reports on application activity for NEC. Information collected includes what screens you access, number of screens accessed per session, session duration, what type of device you are using, and the country from which you are connecting. We will never (and will not allow any third party to) use the statistical analytics tool to track or to collect any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) of users of this application.

USE OF INFORMATION

Your applicable Service Provider may use information about you for various purposes, including to:

  • Send you technical notices, updates, security alerts and support and administrative messages;
  • Respond to your comments, questions and requests and provide customer service;
  • Monitor and analyze trends, usage and activities in connection with the Service; and
  • Carry out any other purpose for which the information was collected.

By accessing or using the Service or otherwise providing information via the Service, you consent to the processing and transfer of information in and to the U.S. and other countries.

SHARING OF INFORMATION

Your applicable Service Provider may share information about you as follows or as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy:

With vendors, consultants and other service providers who need access to such information to carry out work;

In response to a request for information if it is believed that disclosure is in accordance with any applicable law, regulation or legal process, or as otherwise required by any applicable law, rule or regulation; and

With your consent or at your direction.

Information may also be shared in an aggregated or de-identified manner.
